Bucknell’s English-Literary Studies program was designed with flexibility to let you customize your studies so that you can follow your passions. As a result, students take many different paths through our classes that allow them to explore their own interests, find themselves, and prepare themselves for careers.

You can follow a path through our classes that allows you to learn about:

• Gender and sexuality
• How to be a better writer for professional contexts
• Literature and the environment
• Race and literature
• Literature in relation to other cultural forms (e.g., film, television, music)
• Literature from a certain time period, (e.g., medieval and early modern literature)
• Theatre and drama
• Literature and activism
• Non-traditional literature (such as comic books, graphic novels, or science fiction)
• Children’s and young adult’s literature
• Journalistic forms of writing, or the relationship of literature and the law
